Vent: Growing specialty lilies for a single event drained my calendar

It's just flowers for one day. Bigger things go wrong in life all the time. Hardly seems worth the stress.

But isn't it the small letdowns that sometimes sting the most because they're supposed to be the easy, happy parts? When we say "bigger things go wrong" to brush off a disappointment, does that actually help or just teach us to ignore our feelings until they pile up? What if the stress isn't really about the flowers at all, but about the pattern of small things going sideways? Does pretending the small stuff doesn't matter make dealing with the big stuff harder?
