Vent: Had to explain to my kid's teacher that I don't just melt metal all day

Remember my buddy Chris who fixes networks for a living? His kid's coach once asked if he could 'unbreak' the internet during a game. Chris had to sit down and explain that his job involves planning, security, and keeping data flowing, not just plugging in cables. It's crazy how people reduce complex jobs to one simple task. Why do we always have to justify our work to others? Makes you wonder what the teacher actually thinks melting metal involves.
