Rant: Going contract-free almost cost me my biggest client
I avoided contracts to seem more flexible and easy to work with. When a dispute came up over scope, I had no protection and almost lost the project. Do you use contracts for every job?

My third freelance job ever, I skipped the contract to seem chill. Big mistake, I ended up working for free when the client kept adding 'small tweaks'. I felt like a doormat with a laptop. Now I use a one-page contract for every single job, no exceptions. It keeps things clear and saves my sanity.

That doormat feeling is so real, @nancy_davis75. I once did a tiny logo job for a friend's cousin that somehow turned into a full brand guide with endless notes. Even small gigs need those guardrails you mentioned, or the work never really ends.

Does @nancy_davis75's doormat come with WiFi?
