I finally understood why my dad's old GPS unit from 2015 felt better than my phone's app.

Oh man, same. My phone's app is still trying to figure out my own street. Guess I'm the outdated tech now.

My friend's GPS once told her to turn into a lake.

Read an article saying those old units just gave simpler, clearer directions.
