My new smart scale bricked itself after a firmware update last Tuesday
It was a Garmin Index S2, and it downloaded an update overnight. When I stepped on it in the morning, the screen just flashed ERROR and went black. I tried the reset button under the battery cover for 10 seconds, but nothing happened. I had to call their support line, and they're sending me a replacement unit. Has anyone else had a gadget completely die from an automatic update like that?

Ugh, that's rough... your scale literally weighed its options and decided to quit. At least they're sending a new one, but now you have to wonder if the replacement will pull the same stunt.

Bricked itself" is right... guess your scale got the digital version of the flu from that update. At least they're sending a new one, but man, what a way to start your morning.

Remember when we all thought automatic updates were the best thing ever? I used to be the first one to click update now. But after my own stuff got wrecked by a bad update last year, I totally get it. It's like they push it out without really checking if it'll break your things. Makes you want to turn auto-updates off for everything, doesn't it?
