Question about the 'petrified lightning' I saw in a museum in Florida

I thought fulgurite was just a weird glass tube, but seeing a piece from a 1994 lightning strike that fused a whole patch of sand convinced me it's a legit geological record of a single instant.

That museum display sounds awesome. Seeing the actual scale of it makes a huge difference compared to just reading a description. Totally changes how you see the whole thing.
