Hot take: Everyone pushes the 100-mile mark, but hitting 50 solo was my real turning point.

Used to chase big numbers too until a 40 mile section of the Appalachian Trail made me get it. @xenarobinson, it was about learning to hike the trail in front of you, not the one in your head.

Vent: The speaker policy at my school changed completely after a 2022 protest.

Wait, they actually started doing that last year? That feels like forever to put up with it. I would have lost my mind by now, honestly.

Rant: Got a 30-day ban on a big history forum for correcting a map date

Wasn't there a big thing a while back about a history channel using modern borders in a documentary about ancient Rome? I saw a whole thread where people got mad because it made the political situation look way simpler than it was. It feels like some mods just want to avoid any argument at all, even if you're just adding a fact. They see a correction and just assume it's going to start a fight. What's the point of a history forum if you can't point out a wrong date on a map?

Just realized something after seeing a protest at my old college in Madison last week

Ugh, Logan, I get it. It feels like that sometimes. But honestly, some of these small things matter a ton to daily life. Like, a bad bike lane design means people riding in traffic, and that's scary. Or a changed bus route can make someone late for work every single day. When the city makes a rule that messes with your whole routine, you're gonna get loud about it. It's not just being worked up over nothing.

My painter buddy said 'fire your worst client' and I can't stop thinking about it

That line about mental energy holding back three good accounts is dead on. I finally cut loose a constant complainer last year. My stress went way down and I had way more time for clients who actually valued the work. Revenue stayed the same because I filled the spot with better work. It feels scary but it's the best move.
