I finally see the point of polishing feed ramps after seeing a local cop's worn-out service pistol jam repeatedly during a demo.

Watching that happen at the community safety event made me stop thinking it was just a cosmetic step.

Ever skip a basic clean because it looked fine on the outside? I totally did that with my first pistol, just wiped it down and called it good. Then it jammed at the worst time and I stood there looking like a confused cartoon character. That demo you saw would have saved me a lot of red-faced fumbling. Live and learn, usually the embarrassing way.

Challenge that logic a bit. I've carried the same pistol for years with just quick wipes and it never fails me. How can we be sure the jam came from skipping a clean and not from ammo or a weak spring? Over-cleaning can wear parts out faster and change how they fit together. Sometimes we learn more by trusting our gear instead of fearing every missed step.
