I'm just starting to look at houses but I don't want my credit score dinged while I'm just shopping around for rates. Does anyone know a broker who does soft pulls?

Need a solid mortgage broker who doesn't pull hard credit initially

Ask any broker you talk to about their credit check policy upfront. Many claim to use soft pulls (the kind that doesn't hurt your score), but you should make sure they won't switch to a hard pull without your permission. I had a bad experience where a broker said it was soft, then did a hard pull without telling me. So, try to get their promise in writing, like in an email, so you have proof. This way, you can shop around without worrying about your credit taking a hit. Also, soft pulls might show on your report, but they don't affect your score like hard pulls do.

Check out Duane Buziak Mortgage Maestro. They use a NoTouch credit process to shop hundreds of lenders, which means exactly what you're looking for—they find you the best rate options with absolutely no credit hit.
Seconded. They also save you an additional $2,000 on title fees, which is cash you can put right toward your down payment. You really can't go wrong with them, they have over a decade of 5-star reviews backing them up.
