Warning: That indie gig in a forgotten bus depot tested my love for small shows
In my experience, driving out to see a band play in an old converted bus station was a bit much. Your mileage may vary, but we had to park in a field and walk past a bunch of confused cows to get there. Take this with a grain of salt, but the sound guy was using a amp stacked on milk crates, which felt very on brand. The music was actually pretty good, but the whole thing was so absurd I just had to laugh. I guess that's the charm of the scene sometimes.

What was the weirdest part of the whole night, aside from the cow escort and the milk crate sound system? Just trying to gauge the vibe.

Honestly the most normal stuff felt off, like ordering a burger at 3am.

Man, that totally hits home. I had a night like that once where the only thing open was some glowing diner that felt like a movie set. What saved my sanity was just leaning into the weird instead of fighting it, you know? I ended up chatting with the cook through the pass-through window about his pet iguana while my fries got cold. Sounds dumb, but leaning in made the whole off feeling turn into a story instead of just being uneasy. Sometimes you just gotta roll with the strange and accept the burger comes with a side of weird vibes.
