The old neighborhood grocery store on Elm Street turned into luxury condos

I drove past the corner of Elm and 5th last week and barely recognized it. That grocery store had been there since the 60s, and now it's a five story building with a coffee shop on the ground floor. Anyone else notice how fast their part of town is changing?

Nobody mentions how the NEW stops serving the people who used to actually LIVE there.

Man, for real though. I moved back to my old neighborhood last year and the new coffee shop doesn't even have the old breakfast sandwich I grew up buying. They're charging like 8 bucks for some fancy toast with avocado and it's just not the same. The old bodega guy had to close up because rent went up, and now it's a place that sells $12 smoothies nobody in the building can afford. I mean, maybe it's just me but it feels like they're building for people who don't actually live here yet.

Is it bad that I'm kinda hoping someone opens a convenience store that just sells nostalgia and regret? Cause at this rate that's all I can afford in my old hood.
