Pre-testing parts on the box before case installation is a game changer
I put the CPU, cooler, and RAM on the motherboard box before installing anything in the case. This lets me see if the system posts without any hidden problems. Last build, it caught a faulty RAM stick right away, so I swapped it before wiring everything up. Now I do this every time and it saves a lot of hassle.

Spotting bad RAM first is such a relief.

Honestly, calling it a game changer is right on the money. But what I don't see people talk about is how doing this outside the case lets you check the cooler mount and CPU seating without any tight spaces getting in the way. Like @derek_hayes57 said, catching bad RAM early is huge, but avoiding a poorly seated cooler that overheats later is just as big a win. You can make sure everything is snug and posting before you deal with all the case cables and screws. It turns a potential headache into a quick fix if something is wrong.

Wait, I'm shocked this isn't common knowledge. Testing the cooler outside the case should be step one. Missing that is just setting yourself up for frustration.
