I keep hearing ceramic pots make stews taste better, but I'm not convinced.

Last week, I cooked a beef stew in my ceramic Dutch oven. People always talk about how it brings out the flavors. After three hours, the stew tasted just like when I use my regular metal pot. The ceramic is heavy and a hassle to clean up. I think the love for it is more about looks than actual cooking.

Wait, the cleanup is that bad? Mine just wipes out. Maybe yours has a weird finish or something.

Seriously, it is a total pain every single time. It just smears around forever and leaves this gross film. I have to use a special cleaner and a lot of elbow grease to get it actually clean. Maybe some finishes are different, but mine is definitely not a simple wipe down situation. It is the one huge downside to an otherwise great product.
