Standing up to vague policies got easier thanks to a suppressed history podcast
I heard an episode of 'Hidden Labor' that detailed how companies use obscure rules to control staff. It explained my boss's constant changes to break times. I brought it up in a meeting with facts from the show. We now have written break schedules posted in the kitchen.

Did my attempt to use podcast facts backfire when I cited it wrong and looked foolish?

Honestly, I'm really glad you shared that story. It's a perfect example of how a little knowledge can change things at work. My old job had similar issues with break times always shifting. Did your boss try to argue or did they fold once you had proof? Posting that schedule in the kitchen probably makes everyone's day less stressful. Have people started taking their breaks on time now?

Good on you for using that podcast to back up your case. Ngl, it's wild how common these vague rules are in workplaces. What did your boss say when you brought up the facts from the show? Did they try to push back or were they surprised you had proof? Also, has having a written schedule made a real difference in your daily routine?
