inUnpopular opinion: I think old school community gardens did more for the planet than modern green tech
Man, @wendyj24 got me thinking. Reminds me of my dad's old adjustable wrench that fixed everything, versus my phone's manual app that needs 12 updates to open. Sometimes simple tools just work better, you know? Like how my neighbor still grows killer tomatoes with just dirt and rain, no smart sensors or whatever. Feels like we overcomplicate stuff that was already solved.

inA trusted cleaner wrecked a classic lens I was fixing.
Honestly, that alcohol solution really cleaned up, @elliot836.

inOn my street, the new solar-powered phone chargers are all the rage...
Man, I totally get that lol. Mine is the same way. On a sunny day it's fine, but if there's even a hint of clouds, it barely trickles any power. Last week I tried charging during a partly cloudy afternoon and it took like six hours for 20% battery. Kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me. I've seen people raving about them online, but I guess they must live in super sunny places or something.

inFound an old cabinet shop on a New England drive last fall
People get really worked up about the old way of doing things. Modern tools are just better and faster for most jobs. It is nice to look at but not really how things get built now.

inSerious question, dealing with thick neck hair that grows in multiple directions
Have you tried a really solid pre shave routine to soften things up first? I found washing my neck with hot water and using a good gel or oil makes a HUGE difference before I even touch the razor. That prep work lets your against the grain method work even better because the hair is way more manageable. Using a fresh, sharp blade is non-negotiable too, it just glides through. It totally turns the whole shave around and cuts down on the irritation and bumps.
