Spent 2 hours tweaking an AI prompt to write a simple email and it came out worse than my first draft

I tried using GPT-4 to draft a refund request to a client and after endless rewrites it sounded robotic and fake. Got so frustrated I just wrote it myself in 5 minutes and it worked fine. Anyone else find that AI tools make simple tasks harder instead of easier?

it's like that thing where you get so caught up in trying to use the perfect tool you forget just doing it yourself is faster. i noticed it with my coffee machine too - spent 20 minutes trying to dial in the right grind size for a pour-over when i could've just used the drip brewer in 5. i think we get this idea that technology should make everything easier, but sometimes the simple old way just works better because it's ours.
