Had to pick between a used borescope and a new one on a budget last month

My old scope finally gave out after 5 years. I had about $600 to spend. A used Olympus from a shop in Denver was $550, but a new knockoff brand was $400. I went with the used Olympus and honestly it works great, no issues at all. The image is still good and it saved my inspection on a Cessna 172 cylinder last week. How many of you trust used tools like that over new budget stuff?

Trust the used Olympus over any knockoff, that Cessna cylinder would've hated the cheap one.

Man, that is solid advice right there. Had a buddy who tried to save a few bucks on a knockoff part for his Bonanza and ended up with a cracked head within 50 hours. The extra peace of mind with the Olympus, even used, is worth every penny when you're up there. It's rough when a cheap fix turns into a whole engine teardown. Really feel for anyone who has to learn that lesson the hard way.
