Pro tip: write your torque values on the part with a paint pen, not your memory
Three years ago I was doing a gear leg inspection on a King Air at a shop in Wichita and a guy named Ray handed me a paint pen. He marked every bolt he touched right on the part with the value after he torqued it. Last month I watched a younger kid pull a wing panel and re-torque a row of bolts to 40 inch pounds when half of them called for 90. He had the manual open on his phone but he was reading the wrong column. Ray's pen trick would have caught that in two seconds because the right number was already sitting there on the metal. I started doing it on every job over 20 fasteners and my rework has dropped to basically nothing. Anybody else mark parts, or do you all just trust the sheet?
