Serious question, has anyone else skipped the new wireless sensors for a big job?
I had a 12-unit apartment building in Springfield last month and chose to run hardwired contacts on every door and window instead of using the wireless kits everyone seems to love. It took three extra days and cost more in labor, but we haven't had a single false alarm or battery call since. Do you think the extra upfront work is ever worth it for the long-term reliability?

My old boss in Cleveland swore by that wired method for any building over six units. He said the extra labor cost was just buying future peace of mind. I never saw him have a callback for a sensor issue.

Did you consider the wireless sensors with dual reporting tech? The good ones now send both radio and a backup signal, so they're nearly as solid as wired. That middle ground might have saved you those three days.

Ugh, I wish. I looked at those, but the price jump was wild for the dual tech models. My budget forced me into the basic radio-only kind, and of course that's the one that dropped signal. Lesson learned, I guess.
