Switched from wired to wireless panels after 15 years in the biz

I had to decide between sticking with the old hardwired Honeywell panels or moving to a new wireless system for a big apartment complex in Cleveland last month. I went with the wireless setup to save on labor time, and the install went smooth but the first three sensors kept losing signal until I figured out the metal studs were blocking them. Has anyone else run into interference issues with wireless gear in newer buildings?

Metal studs are just modern architecture's way of saying "I hate your wireless signal" I swear. The first three door sensors were basically useless until I literally shoved one against a wooden door frame and the magic happened. Ended up having to mount the receivers in the hallways because the units themselves have metal framing too. At least the labor savings got eaten up by buying extra repeaters and signal boosters, so that worked out real well for the budget.

My wireless doorbell kept ringing every time the neighbor started his truck.
