Heard about that too, @christopherperry, and I actually saw discarded gear crushing salmon eggs last summer.

Okay but "crushing salmon eggs" feels like a stretch, @oliver_murphy. Gear gets moved by tides all the time, so it's probably not just sitting on a nest forever. Nature is pretty tough, and salmon have been dealing with stuff in rivers for ages. Maybe the bigger issue is something else hurting the fish, not just some old nets.
