Bought a cheap pair of gloves for halibut fishing in Homer and ended up with bloody fingers

I was out on a charter in Cook Inlet last July and grabbed a $10 pair of rubber gloves from the hardware store thinking they'd work for hauling fish. The hooks went right through them on the third catch and I spent the rest of the trip wrapping my hand in duct tape. Anyone have a brand of cut-resistant gloves that actually hold up to halibut slime and hooks?

Ditch the duct tape and get some Showa 282s instead.

My cheap gloves turned my hands into pincushions faster than a walrus in a tackle shop. I switched to some brand called HexArmor and they've been decent so far - still got the duct tape on standby though.
