Got caught in a whiteout on the Parks Highway near Healy and did the one thing nobody tells you to do
Pulled over at a pullout around mile 250 last March, wind howling, couldn't see ten feet, so I slept in the cab with the engine running instead of pushing on. Anyone else ever just stop in a storm up here, or do you all keep rolling?
Stopping is the move, no question. Running the engine keeps you warm and alive, and driving blind on the Parks is how people end up in the ditch or worse. I've parked it in a pullout near Cantwell for four hours before, just waited it out with a thermos and the radio. Only thing to watch is carbon monoxide if your exhaust gets buried, so crack a window a bit.
