Just realized the road to my old fishing spot near Seward is gone
I drove out toward Seward last month to check on a creek where my dad used to take me for silver salmon back in the 90s. The gravel turnoff I remembered was buried under a new culvert and about 200 feet of fresh road work, so I parked and walked a while looking for it. Three years ago that whole stretch was still dirt and potholes, and now it is paved with a boat launch and a sign I have never seen. I get why they fixed it, more people can get down there now, but I stood there feeling like I lost something small. Does anyone know when they put that culvert in, or am I the only one who did not hear about it?
So they paved the road, put in a culvert and added a boat launch at a spot off the Seward highway. That is not a loss, that is a free upgrade. You can still walk down and fish the same creek, the salmon do not care if there is asphalt above them. If anything you just got easier access for you and your dad's old spot is now open to folks who could not make it down that pothole mess before. What exactly did you lose, the potholes?
