My neighbor swore that bear spray works better than a gun for brown bears on the Kenai last summer

He said guns just make them mad if you miss, and I laughed at him until I watched a video of a guy getting charged and fumbling his holster. Now I'm split between carrying both or just the spray has anyone actually tested this in a real encounter?

Honestly I read this article a while back about a guy who got charged by a sow on the Kenai and the spray was the only thing that stopped her. He said the wind was all wrong too but he still managed to get a cloud up and she turned at like 10 feet. I can see why your buddy swears by it because that stuff is way more effective than people give it credit for. Ngl I carry a can myself every time I'm out in the bush and I've never had to use it but knowing it's there makes me feel a lot better.
