Spent $300 on a good set of winter tires for my truck

They paid for themselves the first time I had to drive the Parks Highway in freezing rain. The grip difference over my old all-seasons was night and day. Anyone have a favorite tire shop in the Fairbanks area?

Man, you're not kidding about that grip. I saw a video last week of a truck with bald all-seasons just sliding sideways on a patch of black ice out by Nenana. It wasn't even going fast. Your new tires probably just saved you from a ditch or a wreck. Good call getting them before you really needed them. I always use the guys over at the shop on College Road, they never try to upsell you on stuff you don't need.

That video sounds scary, makes you realize how fast things can go wrong. Getting the right tires early is the smart move, even if it feels like an extra cost. You just can't put a price on that kind of safety.

How much of a difference do you think the tire shop makes for the install and balance? I've heard a bad job can ruin even the best tires.
