Had a 2012 Ram 2500 with a persistent crank-no-start that stumped me for a whole weekend

I had the same thing happen on my old Ford, spent an entire Saturday chasing a no-start condition that turned out to be a broken wire inside the insulation about three inches from the connector. You could tug on it and the light would flicker, but it looked fine with just a visual check. After I finally found it and soldered in a new piece, the truck fired right up and I felt like an idiot for not checking that spot sooner.

My tent zipper blew out during a storm in the Smokies last October

I helped a friend fix a busted zipper on a tent once using dental floss and it held for about two more trips before it gave out entirely. How many times have you actually had that floss repair hold up for a full season without resorting to a full zipper replacement? I'm curious because I've never gotten more than three or four uses out of it before the stitches started pulling loose.

Had a speaker on campus in Colorado get heckled so bad she couldn't finish her talk last spring.

Maybe I'd just trip over my own feet trying to be dramatic.

Spent 3 hours cutting dados with a chisel before remembering I own a router

Oh man, I've totally been there! I spent a whole afternoon fighting with a hand plane on some oak once, getting all frustrated, then realized my jointer was literally plugged in behind me. What finally helped was making a little checklist on my phone of "what tools could do this" before I start any project. I force myself to look at my tool wall and actually think about it, even if it takes an extra 30 seconds. Feels silly, but it saved me from a lot of dumb mistakes (and wasted time). Now I just laugh at myself when it happens, which is still way too often.

Just realized tourists keep calling Denali 'Mount McKinley' like it never changed

The real kicker is that Denali was always called that by the local Koyukon people long before any of us showed up, so technically we're just catching up. What's the best way to get people to respect indigenous names?
