My water heater died at 6am on a Tuesday and the repair guy saved my whole week
Two weeks ago my water heater went out right when I was about to shower before a big cleaning job. I called three places and one guy actually showed up within 2 hours, replaced the element for $180. The other two quoted me $400 and said they could come next week. Has anyone else had a crazy good or bad experience with emergency home repairs here in Albuquerque?

Heard a similar story from my buddy Matt over in the Northeast Heights. His AC died in July right before his wife's family came to visit from out of state. Called a place at 7pm, they had a guy there by 9pm, fixed it for $150. Said it was a bad capacitor. Meanwhile my neighbor called a big chain company for a fridge repair and they quoted her $600 to even look at it. Took three weeks for them to show up and they couldn't even fix it. I swear the smaller shops around here are way more reliable for emergency stuff.

Gavin that story about your buddy Matt is exactly why I tell people to find a good local repair person before you actually need one. My own furnace went out on a freezing December night last year and I was so grateful I had a little handyman's number saved from when he fixed my dryer. He came over at 8pm and charged me $80 for a part he had in his truck. Big companies just can't compete with that kind of personal service, can they?
