Went with swamp coolers over AC here and I'm already second guessing it
Bought a house off Montgomery near the river last spring and went the swamp cooler route to save on the power bill. Now that we've had a few 100 degree days, I'm wondering if anyone else runs both or if I should just switch over to refrigerated air.
Man, this is the same trap we all fall into with everything. We buy the cheaper thing up front and forget that the real cost shows up later when it actually has to do its job. Happens with used cars that run great until summer, cheap boots that leak by December, that budget mattress your back hates after six months. Swamp coolers work fine until the humidity and heat both climb, then you're just moving warm wet air around and still sweating. It's never really about the sticker price, it's about whether the thing holds up when you need it most.
