A dude in the comments changed my mind about slow-burn anime
I used to skip any show that took more than 3 episodes to hook me. Then I saw this comment on a thread about Mushishi where someone said "the point isn't the plot, it's the feeling of just existing in that world." That kinda sat with me for a few days. I gave it another shot and watched 5 episodes in one sitting. Has anyone else had a show click for them way later than they expected?

Wait, is it actually worth sticking through those slow parts? I used to be the same way, bailed on anything that didn't grab me right away. But then I gave Natsume's Book of Friends a real chance after hearing someone say it's like a warm blanket, and yeah, it totally clicked after like 6 episodes. Now I'm way more patient with shows that take their time building the world.

Oh man, that Mushishi comment hits different. I had the exact same thing happen with a show called Haibane Renmei. I dropped it twice because nothing seemed to happen. Then someone said it's about learning to accept kindness even when you don't feel like you deserve it. @elizabeth438 is totally right about Natsume too, that show is like a warm blanket after a long week. The slow burn thing really is about the mood and the atmosphere more than the plot. Once your brain stops waiting for something explosive to happen, you start noticing all the small moments that make it special.
