Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say 'anime is just cartoons for kids' and it got me thinking.
He was talking about his nephew watching My Hero Academia. What's the most off-base take on anime you've heard someone say out loud?

That "just cartoons for kids" line is a classic. The weirdest one I heard was someone saying all anime has the same art style.

Honestly, the take that gets me is when people act like it's all either childish fantasy or pure adult smut. Ever show someone something like Monster or Mushishi? The look of total shock is priceless. Guess they never considered a cartoon could just be a quiet, thoughtful story.
