Vent: I tried ranking a 'best anime of 2023' thread by comment count and it backfired
I sorted a big discussion thread by 'most comments' thinking it would show the most popular shows. The top result was just two people having a 50 reply argument about a single scene in episode 4 of a show I'd never heard of. It completely buried the actual popular shows that had hundreds of shorter, positive comments. I learned that engagement metrics on forums can be super misleading. Has anyone found a better way to actually gauge what the community is buzzing about?

Ugh, my Twitter feed is just bots arguing now.

Saw a thread last week with over 2,000 replies. It was just two crypto bots copy-pasting the same three links at each other for hours. The whole platform feels like a ghost town run by spam scripts now.

Totally get that. Saw a similar thing where the "most active" thread on a game forum was just people fighting over a balance patch. The actual good guides got buried.
