My cousin who works at a dig site in Turkey said something that got me worried

We were talking about the new Roman mosaic they found near Antalya, and he mentioned how many tourists are walking right on the unprotected edges. He said, 'If we don't get proper barriers up soon, the foot traffic will grind it to dust in a year.' That really hit me because I always assumed sites were safe once they were found. How do we actually push for faster site protection?

Actually saw the Ephesus site last year and the controlled visitor paths there WORKED really well.

Yeah, those paths make a huge difference. I've been to places without them and you just get people wandering everywhere, messing up the ground and the vibe. Having a clear route lets you actually focus on the ruins instead of dodging crowds.

My friend got yelled at by a ranger at Mesa Verde for stepping off the gravel path. He was just trying to get a better photo angle, but they take it super seriously. It really shows how those rules protect the place for everyone.
