Got a weird question at a community potluck that made me rethink the whole point of this forum

I was at a neighborhood block party in Columbus last weekend, and someone asked me where to find good, unbiased reviews for local roofers. I gave my usual spiel about checking here first, but it made me wonder... what's the strangest or most specific thing someone has ever asked you for advice on? Like, something that made you go 'huh, okay'.

Remember a guy at a hardware store once asked me how to soundproof a room for his parrot because it kept mimicking his work calls. Had to tell him I'm not an acoustic engineer, but we ended up looking up DIY solutions on my phone right there in the paint aisle. Sometimes you just become the default "guy who might know" for the weirdest stuff. That parrot thing stuck with me because it was so oddly specific, like your roofer question. Honestly, those are the moments that make this whole local advice thing feel real, you know? Not just another boring post about trash pickup days.

My neighbor's kid asked me to help debug his robot vacuum last week because it kept getting stuck on the same rug fringe. Spent forty minutes on the floor with him trying different things. Those moments are nice, but honestly, I'm here for the trash pickup days. Knowing when to put the bins out saves me more real headache than any funny story.
