Found out most divorce cases in my county settle before trial and it blew my mind

I was reading through the local court stats for my county in Ohio last month and apparently only like 5% of divorce cases actually go to a judge. The rest get settled through mediation or lawyers talking. I always thought people fought it out in court, especially when kids are involved. Has anyone else looked at their local numbers and been surprised?

Haha "calmly agreeing on who gets the air fryer" is too real. My ex and I spent a solid 20 minutes in mediation fighting over a beat-up George Foreman grill that I honestly didn't even want, I just didn't want him to have it. Meanwhile our actual furniture sat there like "are you two seriously doing this right now?

Right? "Only like 5% go to a judge" makes it sound like the rest of us are just calmly agreeing on who gets the air fryer. Guess all those courtroom drama shows lied to us, it's really just people arguing over the guest room curtains in a mediator's office.
