Switched from a standard boning knife to a curved breaking knife for a whole lamb last month

YES exactly, you said "the right tool names matter" and that's honestly everything. I had a similar thing happen last year when I was learning. Someone told me to use a "boning knife" for trimming fat off ribs, but they didn't specify it should be stiff. Ended up using a flexible one and the blade kept bending wrong, almost cut myself. Now I always double check if someone says "curved breaking" or "curved boning" because those are totally different tools for different jobs. And yeah, calling a breaking knife a boning knife is just asking for bad advice to spread around. People gotta stop mixing them up, it's dangerous and wastes time.

Realized I was feeding my AI models garbage data for 6 months

Hear me out though, doesn't that kinda depend on what you're training for? If your bot is supposed to give stock advice or news summaries, training on data from 2019 is worse than useless, it's actually misleading. A small clean set beats a giant mess, sure, but a small clean set of old data is still just a snapshot of the past. I've seen people waste weeks trying to fix a model that kept recommending Blackberry stock because all their training data was from 2008.

Almost got swept off a cliff at Taft Point in Yosemite last fall

It's funny how that kind of near miss makes you double check everything else in life too, isn't it?

An old gardener told me to stop babying my seedlings back in 2018

my buddy matt had a old farmer tell him the same thing about his pepper starts back in 2019... he was misting them like three times a day and keeping a plastic dome on them until they were like 6 inches tall. the guy told him to basically neglect them for a week, let the soil dry out almost completely and just let them sit in the cold garage overnight. matt thought he was gonna kill them all but they ended up being the stockiest peppers he ever grew, stems like little tree trunks.

The greenhouse I help at lost all its seedlings in one night, heres what changed

Oh man that is brutal. Something really similar happened to my buddy Carla last spring with her home setup. She had this DIY heat mat thing she built herself for her pepper starts and the temp controller glitched one night while she was asleep. Woke up to find the soil temp was pushing 110 and all her little seedlings were basically steamed in their trays. It was like a hundred little plants all wilted over at once and she said the smell of cooked roots was awful. She tried saving a few by watering them with cool water and trimming back the dead leaves but none of them made it. She was so mad she threw the whole heat mat setup in the trash and bought a proper one with a digital thermostat that has an automatic shutoff. Now she triple checks the connection every time she plugs it in.
