Had a client tell me I was 'too honest' during a consultation last Tuesday

Met with a guy at a family law clinic in Austin about his custody case. I gave it to him straight - told him the evidence he had wasn't strong enough to fight for full custody and he'd probably end up with shared. He got mad and said I should have sugarcoated it to get his money. Another attorney down the hall took him and charged him 3k for a motion that got denied. Has anyone else had clients get upset because you didn't just tell them what they wanted to hear?

I was too honest" yeah that's a weird complaint... clients want a cheerleader, not a lawyer.
