Rant: I called the stacked moon photos fake until I took 40 shots with my own camera
Saw those big moon behind the skyline pics online and figured people were just cutting and pasting in Photoshop. Then I stood on a parking deck in Fort Worth with a 250mm lens and shot the same frame 40 times as the moon rose, and the stacking software pulled out detail I could not see with my own eyes. Anyone else get humbled by a process they assumed was cheating?
The part that gets me is how much the software shows you that your eyes just can't catch in one quick look. Same thing happens with star trails and lightning shots, the camera gathers way more than we can see in real time. Once you try it yourself you stop calling it fake and start feeling dumb for judging other people's work.
