Changed my mind about noise-cancelling headphones after a meltdown at Target

I was in the cereal aisle last Saturday and the lights plus a kid screaming pushed me over the edge. I ended up sitting on the floor near the dairy section for 20 minutes until I could breathe again. Now I wear my Anker Q30s every time I go out, has anyone else found a brand that actually blocks out the high pitched sounds?

Actually I'm gonna COMPLETELY disagree here @the_ruby. I think those Sony XM5s let in MORE of the annoying high pitched stuff because the adaptive mode is too smart for its own good. My friend has them and the noise cancelling keeps switching between modes so you get these weird bursts of sound that are WORSE than just leaving the Q30s on steady. Plus I tried my boss's XM5s at the office and they actually made the fluorescent light hum LOUDER somehow. Sometimes simpler is better for your nerves especially when you're already on edge.

The Anker Q30s actually have a specific frequency curve that might let some high pitched noises through, especially around 3-4 kHz. I have the Sony WH-1000XM5s and while they're pricey, the adaptive noise cancelling catches those sharp sounds way better. If the Q30s work for you most of the time just don't expect them to block everything perfectly.
