My nephew asked why I wear headphones at family dinners, and his mom's answer made me speak up
Last Saturday at my sister's place in Sacramento, my 9 year old nephew Ben asked why I always have my headphones around my neck at dinner. Before I could say anything, his mom told him I just "like music a lot." I jumped in and explained it's really about blocking out the clatter of dishes and overlapping talk so I can stay at the table without feeling fried. How do you all handle it when a family member explains your needs for you, but gets it wrong?
