Serious question, my son's IEP meeting got moved to Zoom last minute and the district rep talked over me for 40 minutes
The meeting was supposed to be in person last Tuesday at 3pm at Lincoln Elementary, but they switched it to Zoom an hour before, and every time I tried to bring up his speech minutes the rep kept saying we were out of time, so what do I even do now?
Read somewhere that you can demand the meeting go back to in person if Zoom is messing with your rights, or at least get it recorded. Call the district special ed office and file a complaint about the rep talking over you the whole time.
Nothing says "we value your input as a parent" quite like getting talked over for 40 minutes straight on a surprise Zoom call. Sounds like the rep had a whole speech ready and your kid's speech minutes were just in the way of their schedule. Real talk though, phoenix214 is right, ask for it in person and ask for it recorded, because a rep who pulls the "we're out of time" line every time you open your mouth knows exactly what they're doing. Next time just keep talking when they try to cut you off, you don't have to hand over the floor just because they act like they own it.
