Just upgraded my garage lighting and WOW what a difference
I put in some LED strips above my workbench. Now I can see every bolt and nut clearly. No more squinting in the dark corners. This makes night repairs WAY less frustrating.

Seriously? I find too much light just gives me brutal glare off shiny tools. It actually makes some detail work harder for me in the garage. I still keep one old dim lamp around for that reason.

Question if glare is really that big a deal. Just move the lamp or your tools around. Problem solved without keeping old stuff.

Try moving a lamp when your hands are covered in grease. Glare off a wrench can hide a critical crack. That old lamp gives a soft light that shows true surfaces. It's about seeing the work, not just lighting the room.
