Spent 45 minutes trying to diagnose a misfire, turned out the spark plug wire was just sitting next to the terminal not on it

I mean, the part that gets me is "spark plug wire was just sitting next to the terminal." That's such a classic thing where you trust the parts are connected right because they look like they should be. But nobody ever thinks about how easy it is for them to not actually snap on all the way. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like there's a whole category of problems that are just "looks like it's on but it's not really on." Like plugs that aren't fully seated, hoses that slipped off, grounds that are loose. It makes you wonder how many times we chase big issues when it's really just a connection that needs a second push.
