inTIL that 'quick start' guide for my new phone cost me $80
Oh my god, right? I bet the "expert training" is just them learning to sound confident while they flip to the index. For eighty dollars they should at least throw in a comforting pat on the shoulder.

inWent to the new bookstore in Riverdale and saw their 'debate corner' had a sign banning spoilers for the first 30 minutes.
That spoiler ban sounds rough for a book like that. Heard a similar story from a friend in a sci-fi book club (they read the same one). Their whole first meeting was people just talking in circles, avoiding the alien's name like it was a landmine. Makes you wonder if the rule should be different for books where the twist is the whole point, you know? Maybe a "spoiler safe" sign for certain titles instead of a blanket time limit.

inA regular at my old shop in Tacoma always ordered the same thing, every Friday for years.
It’s just a fun way to ask for a casual vibe.

inA weird thing I saw in a coffee shop in Portland three years ago
That dentist waiting room horror plot sounds way too real (and scary). What was the specific thing you saw there that gave you the creeps, like a weird magazine or a painting or something? The napkin writer's story came from watching foam patterns, so the tiny details seem to matter.

inHot take: My old 4-season tent from a big box store was a joke compared to the Hilleberg I borrowed for a trip out of Talkeetna.
Genuine question, how many people are actually dealing with three-day tundra windstorms? Most of us are just trying to keep the rain off during a weekend hike. That old big box tent probably works fine for 95% of trips. It sounds like you went on a truly wild expedition, which is awesome, but maybe not the normal use case.
