Stopped by a shop in Tucson last week that still uses a 1970s alignment rack

I was picking up parts at a small shop near Speedway and saw this old Bear alignment rack still in daily use. The guy running it said he's had it since '78 and it just keeps going. Made me wonder how many shops still run equipment that old or if most places upgrade every 10 years like the dealerships I work with. Anyone else see ancient gear holding up better than the new stuff?

Buddy of mine found a 1960s brake lathe still going strong at a shop in Phoenix.

Man that's awesome, you just don't see that kind of build quality anymore. Those old brake lathes are tanks, they'll outlast pretty much anything made today. I've heard guys swear by the old Ammco models from that era for a reason. They might be heavy and take up more space but they just keep cutting true year after year. Is he planning to buy it off the shop or just admiring it from afar?

It's rough seeing so much classic shop gear getting replaced, @valsullivan.
