Lunch with an old client made me rethink how I price retainers
That lunch made me go back and look at my last three proposals. I had two that got rejected on price, and now I think it was because I made it about my time, not their problem. The one where I actually listened to their pain points and quoted a fixed number went through without a counter. So I'm testing a value based structure on my next bid next month. But I'm worried about scope creep, since flat fees can turn into unlimited work fast. How are you guys setting boundaries on fixed price deals without scaring off the client with too many terms?
