Rant: The "Founder" meetup at Pete's Coffee downtown was a clown show
Went to a B2B founder networking thing at Pete's Coffee on Elm Street last Thursday. Out of 12 people, 4 were just selling dropshipping courses and 2 were trying to pitch me on their crypto wallet app before I even got my latte. Is this the norm now or do real founders just not show up to these things?

Pete's Coffee on Elm Street? I've been to that one before, the wifi is terrible. Honestly, 4 dropshipping course sellers out of 12 people is wild. I mean, who actually shows up to a networking event just to sell a course on how to network? Ngl, that would've made me walk out before my latte was even done. I feel like these meetups are getting flooded with people who treat them like a sales floor instead of a place to actually connect. Real founders probably skip them now because they know it's just gonna be a bunch of hype guys with no real business.

Huh. I actually think the wifi thing might be the real tell here. Bad wifi on purpose keeps out the type of people who need to livestream their "grind" to sell courses. Smart move by the coffee shop honestly. Seen too many of those guys camp out at cafes for 8 hours with one drink trying to look busy. Real founders just text you "meet me at the back table" and actually talk about margins and customer pain points. Course sellers bring laptops and tripods. Founders bring a napkin and a pen.
