Honestly, the JMT has too many people telling you to go southbound
I did the John Muir Trail northbound from Whitney Portal in August 2022 and hit way fewer crowds than my buddy did going south the same week, especially on the stretch between Reds Meadow and Yosemite Valley. The climb out of Whitney is brutal on day one, no question, but having your resupply boxes land at MTR without the northbound rush made it worth it. Anyone else gone NOBO and felt like you got a totally different trail?
