Tried a new route in the Sawtooths and ended up with a completely different view

I planned a three day loop starting at Tin Cup Trailhead, but a washed out bridge forced a big detour. We ended up camping near a lake called Sawtooth Lake instead of the planned spot. The view was way better than the one on my original map. Has anyone else had a trail problem turn out for the better in Idaho?

Nice! That's the best kind of wrong turn, @thompson.tara. I got lost on a hike once and stumbled on this tiny waterfall with a perfect little pool. It felt like finding a secret. Those surprise spots are always better than the ones you plan to see.
