My grandma's 60 year old sourdough starter finally died and I'm weirdly sad about it
My grandma in Toledo kept the same starter going since 1964 and fed it every single morning with the same flour. She passed it to me last spring in a Mason jar and I killed it in 4 months by leaving it in the fridge too long during a busy stretch at work. I tried to revive it with 3 feedings but it just smelled like nail polish and never bubbled again. Anyone ever bring one back from that point or do I just start fresh and lie to my cousins about the lineage?
